Lima, Perú, 23 de junio de 2023 – HP ha revelado una nueva investigación a nivel global, realizada por Morning Consult, que muestra las serias medidas que muchos padres están adoptando frente al cambio climático, desde las decisiones del día a día hasta la planeación familiar a largo plazo.
El estudio entre padres y madres de familia en India, México, Singapur, Reino Unido, y Estados Unidos descubrió que el 91% de los padres están preocupados por la crisis climática, la cual los ha llevado a tener cambios que están modificando sus vidas y hábitos de compra. Más de la mitad (53%) señala que la crisis climática ha impactado en su perspectiva de tener más hijos. El 43% de los encuestados expresó que había reconsiderado la opción de trabajar para una empresa con base en su compromiso ante los problemas sociales y ambientales.
La encuesta también reveló que muchos padres muestran su preferencia por las empresas que están actuando realmente para enfrentar el cambio climático. Casi dos terceras partes (64%) prefieren productos que se obtienen de forma sostenible y el 60% afirma que las prácticas en post del medio ambiente juegan un papel importante en sus hábitos de compra. En contraste con lo anterior, la amplia mayoría (84%) reconoce que el costo de vida está aumentando y más de la mitad (57%) cree que participar en prácticas respetuosas con el medio ambiente toma mucho tiempo.
“Las familias, como todos nuestros clientes, confían en HP para conectarse con las cosas que más importan, ya sea el trabajo, el entretenimiento o los seres queridos”, comentó Michele Malejki, directora global de Impacto Social. “Esta es una de las razones por las que los padres y las madres de familia son lo más importante para nosotros. Y, al igual que todas las generaciones que les precedieron, los padres de hoy tienen sus propias presiones, especialmente las relacionadas con la crisis climática. Por lo que vamos más allá de nuestro impacto comercial para hacer que nuestra empresa sea mejor para las personas y el planeta”.
Si bien los padres están tomando medidas personales, la mayoría también piensa que los actores clave en el mundo corporativo deben actuar de igual manera. La mayoría (51%) cree que las compañías tienen “mucha” responsabilidad a la hora de rendir cuentas sobre sus acciones en favor del medio ambiente, a diferencia de los clientes (36%).
“Nuestra investigación se correlaciona con lo que vemos en nuestro negocio: mantenemos clientes, ganamos nuevas ventas y atraemos talento gracias a nuestras iniciativas de Impacto Sostenible y productos sostenibles”, destacó James McCall, director general de Sostenibilidad. “Si somos serios en cuanto a cambiar la trayectoria de la crisis climática, entonces la industria debe ir más allá, pasando de la mentalidad de “no hacer más daño” a la de “hacer el mayor bien posible”.
Estos resultados han sido presentados al mismo tiempo que HP publica su Informe anual sobre Impacto Sostenible por 22ª vez. El informe detalla el progreso de la compañía hacia metas sociales y ambientales integrales. A la fecha, HP:
- Ha reducido su huella de carbón absoluta en un 18% desde 2019. Esto coloca a la empresa más cerca de su objetivo de lograr cero emisiones netas de carbono para 2040, de extremo a extremo.
- Ha reducido el envasado plástico de un solo uso en un 55%, comparado con 2018.
- Ha contrarrestado la deforestación en un 32% de todo el papel utilizado en productos y servicios HP, en camino hacia la meta del 100%.
- Ha acelerado la equidad digital para más de 21 millones de personas, en camino hacia la meta de 150 millones para 2030.
- Se ha comprometido a crear una cartera de talento diverso, con un 46% de nuevas contrataciones de minorías raciales y étnicas en Estados Unidos el año pasado.
HP aspira a ser la empresa tecnológica más sostenible y justa. En 2021, HP estableció objetivos agresivos de impacto sostenible en tres áreas donde la empresa cree que puede marcar la diferencia: Acción Climática, Derechos Humanos y Equidad Digital. El Informe de 2022 detalla el progreso hacia las tres áreas de enfoque, incluida una cadena de valor neta de carbono cero, que devuelve a los bosques más de lo que tomamos, crea una economía más circular, desarrolla una cultura de equidad y empoderamiento, y acelera la equidad digital en todo el mundo para permitir que las comunidades tradicionalmente excluidas puedan prosperar en una economía digital.
